Layout is the organisation of elements on a page or screen. It determines the relationship between content, images, navigation, buttons and empty space. A good layout makes it easier to understand sequence, context and what can be done.

What does layout involve in practice?

In practice, layouts are built with structure, grids, flexbox, spacing and clear content sections. They must accommodate different amounts of text, screen sizes and content types. Layout should begin with content priorities and the user's task, not just with a visual pattern.

Layout is relevant to UX design, UI design and Webflow development. See Grid, Visual hierarchy and Responsive design.
