Third-party services are external tools connected to a website to provide functions that Webflow does not cover on its own. They may include analytics, consent management, search, login, payments, chat, forms or marketing. Each service adds functionality as well as new responsibilities for management, cost and privacy.
What do third-party services involve in practice?
In practice, each service should be assessed based on data requirements, load time, security, accessibility and how easily it can be replaced. Scripts should not load before they are needed, especially when a service uses cookies or collects personal data. Document who owns the account and how the integration is maintained.
Third-party services are relevant when they solve a real need and can be managed over time. Fewer, well-chosen services often create a more robust website. See Integrations, Custom code and the Norwegian Data Protection Authority's guidance on privacy.
