WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, an international set of recommendations for making web content more accessible. The guidelines cover, among other things, whether content can be perceived, operated and understood, and whether it works reliably from a technical perspective. WCAG is often used as the basis for requirements and quality assurance.
What does WCAG involve in practice?
In practice, WCAG involves work with contrast, keyboard navigation, focus, headings, text alternatives, forms, error messages and semantic HTML. The guidelines should be used together with testing and professional judgement. An automated check can find some errors, but it cannot determine whether content is understandable.
