An API describes which requests are possible, what data can be sent and what the response looks like. It allows Webflow to be part of solutions that go beyond what happens in the Designer itself.
What does an API involve in practice?
In practice, an API can be used to retrieve CMS content, create or update items, send data to another system or automate publishing. Access keys, data models, error handling and limitations must be managed carefully. The API should be used with the least access necessary and with clear logging.
