A scroll interaction is a change triggered when a user moves down or up a page. Elements may appear, move, change size or shift colour. Scroll interactions can create rhythm and show how different parts of the content relate to one another.

What does scroll interaction involve in practice?

In practice, the effect should support the content and should not make navigation or reading more difficult. Large movements, heavy code or elements that move unexpectedly can weaken performance and accessibility. Test with a mouse, keyboard, touch and reduced-motion settings.

Scroll interaction is relevant when movement can explain a sequence or create a calmer transition between content sections. See Motion design, Animation and Core Web Vitals.
