A wireframe is a simple sketch of a page or screen. It shows content, structure, navigation and function without spending much time on finished colours, images or details. Wireframes make it possible to discuss the layout before the solution becomes visually fixed.
What does a wireframe involve in practice?
In practice, wireframes can be made on paper, as a simple digital sketch or with more precise tools. They should show what the user needs to find and do, and how the content is prioritised. Good wireframes use realistic headings and text lengths when the structure is being assessed.
